The combination of fruit and vegetables, nuts, olive oil and a glass of wine can help reverse the ageing process by slowing down the damage to chromosomes linked to ageing and offer a health advantage.According to the study, Mediterranean diet have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, that stops the shortening of telomeres, which is associated with lower life expectancy and a greater risk of age-related diseases. Agriculture sector in the Northeast to benefit from scientific practices

Assam, Dec 04 (ANI): Endowed with rich natural resources and suitable climatic conditions, the Northeast region provides a perfect environment for the cultivation of vegetables and fruits. While it has huge potential in horticulture production, the region has to depend on other states due to lack of good quality seedlings. In a move to be self-reliant, the first of its kind agri hub nursery was inaugurated at the horticulture farm on Assam Agriculture University campus in Jorhat. It has been developed at a cost of Rs. 15 crores financed under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana. The nursery will annually produce 48 lakhs seedlings of various vegetables and seasonal flowers. This new project will give a huge boost to production and ultimately help in generating more income for the farmers. Dec 4, 2014

Sweet & Sour Veg soup Ingredients Cabbage - 1 cup (finely chopped) Carrot - 1 cup (finely chopped) Green Bell peppers - 1/2 chopped Yellow Bell peppers - 1/2 chopped A few Spring onion chopped A few Celery chopped A few Garlic cloves chopped Green chilli - 2 Sugar - 2 tbsp Salt to taste Pepper - 1 tsp Corn flour - 1 tbsp Soy sauce - 2 tsp Water - 3 cups Olive oil - 1 tbsp Method: 1. In a Deep wide pan add olive oil, green chilli, garlic & saute it for a minute. 2. Add all the chopped vegetables one after the other Spring onion, Cabbage, Carrot, Celery, Green Bell pepper, Yellow Bell pepper & saute it for a few minutes. 3. Now add Salt, Pepper, Sugar & mix it. Add enough water to cover all the vegetables. You can add vegetable stock also. Let it boil for a few minutes. 4. Dilute a corn flour in a water, it acts as a thickening agent, so pour it in the soup and mix it. 5. Add Soy sauce, Spring onion stock & turn off the stove. 6. The whole some Sweet & Sour Veg soup is ready to serve. India needs 'blue revolution', says Radha Mohan Singh

Kochi, Nov 07 (ANI): Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said that there is need for 'blue revolution' in the country for further development of aquaculture as an important agricultural activity without ruining the environment. Aquaculture refers to all forms of active culturing of aquatic animals and plants, occurring in marine, brackish, or fresh waters. Singh was speaking at the inauguration of two-day Global Agro Meet in Kerala. In July this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also called for 'blue revolution'. The international conference and exposition on value added agriculture and food processing, to promote agriculture and agro processing sector in the state, began in Kochi on Thursday. It was inaugurated by Singh in the presence of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The agro expo will be on for three days during which various products made of fruits and vegetables will also be kept on display.
