Devotees bid adieu to Lord Ganesha

Mumbai/Pune, Sep 08 (ANI): Thousands of devotees in Mumbai on Monday bid farewell to Lord Ganesha, as they thronged to immerse the idol after completion of the 10-day festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. Mumbai witnessed a beeline of devotees with huge idols of Ganesha walking across streets or on trucks and other vehicles. Security measures were beefed up across the state as thousands of devotees took to streets to bid a colourful farewell to Ganesha. Ganesha is regarded and worshipped as an index of knowledge and also the harbinger of auspicious tidings. The annual festival of Ganesha Chaturthi usually falls between August and September. Outgoing Governor Sheila Dikshit receives farewell by Kerala govt

Trivandrum, Sep 04 (ANI): Kerala outgoing Governor Sheila Dikshit on Thursday received farewell by the state government after her resignation was accepted by President Pranab Mukherjee earlier. The farewell ceremony was held at the Technical area of Indian Air force Station in Trivandrum. Chief Minister Ommen Chandy, Planning and Rural Development Minister KC Joseph, Speaker of state Legislative Assembly G Karthikeyan and other high officials of the state were present at the event. Dikshit also received guard of honour during the ceremony. Dikshit had tendered her resignation on 26 August, a day after she met President Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Former Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan receives guard of honour

Mumbai, Aug 27 (ANI): Former Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan received farewell by state cabinet staffs and ministers at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai on Wednesday. Sankaranarayanan also received guard of honour during the event. Present at the occasion were ministers and state Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan who bid farewell to the former governor. Sankaranarayanan resigned soon after he was transferred to Mizoram by the NDA government for his remaining tenure, which had to end in 2017.
