New Delhi, Oct 24 (ANI): Married Hindu women across India observed a one-day fast on the occasion of Karva Chaut and offered prayers for the well-being of their husbands, the fasting ritual commencing before dawn and ending after they worship on sighting the moon after dusk on Tuesday. The traditions associated with this festival are that the women wake up before dawn to begin a fast from sunrise, until the moon is sighted at night, when they will dress up as brides in all their finery to pray for the longevity of their husbands. The worshiping women are bedecked in jewelry and have henna on their hands while gearing up to observe the Hindu festival, Karva Chauth. In the national capital, Sushma Swaraj, a veteran parliamentarian and senior leader of India's main opposition, Bharatiya Janata Party as in earlier years, hosted a collective Karva Chaut ceremony on the lawns of her official residence. The origin of the festival is shrouded in mystery, but one tale tells of a queen being duped by her brothers into breaking her fast before moonrise, leading to the king's immediate death. The company claims it to be the smallest insulin syringe for diabetic patients. While addressing the media, doctor and diabetologist A. Paneerselvam expressed the importance of insulin to manage diabetes and said many patients have trypanophobia. While interacting to media, Paneerselvam added these needles are partially painless. The needle has been designed to improve patients' comfort, as it is 25 percent shorter than the contemporary needles available in the market. Diabetes is a group of disease characterized by high blood glucose levels that result from defects in the body's ability to produce or use insulin. Manipur, Oct 24 (ANI): The 4X4 Overland Expedition car rally reached its second-last stop, which is India's northeastern state of Manipur, on Tuesday and will leave for Myanmar. A total of 54 car rallyists, which includes 17 women hailing from Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and India, participated in the car rally. A participants of the rally, Lam, was excited at the prospect of being able to drive to India and experience the wonders of this land. The rally aims in making a good relationship among the South Asian countries, which could bring in prospects of trade among them in the future. The rally started from Singapore on 18 vehicles and covered Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Shangrila, Zuozang, Lhasa, Zhang Moi, Nepal, Bhutan. It reached its final leg in India's northeastern state of Manipur, in the Imphal city yesterday. From here, it will leave for Myanmar via the town of Moreh. Oct 25, 2013

Agartala, Oct 18 (ANI): Devout Muslims across India's northeastern states congregated at mosques to offer prayers on the occasion of the feast of Eid-al-Adha on Wednesday. Believers offer domestic animals as a ritual sacrifice to the Almighty to mark this festival. According to Islamic tradition, the Prophet Abraham was blessed with a son, Ishmael, at a very advanced age and nurtured a deep love for the boy. The event commemorates Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son. The ritual of sacrifice symbolises obedience and loyalty to God. Muslims worldwide traditionally slaughter a four-legged animal in commemoration. The meat is then distributed among the family and neighbours as well as the poor and the needy. But before the sacrifice, men, women and children flock to mosques around the country to take part in the prayers.
