67 migrants rescued from smugglers van in Croatia

67 migrants have been rescued from a crammed van in Croatia. 42 had to be hospitalised because of carbon monoxide inhalation, exhaustion and hypothermia.Two Bulgarian people smugglers were arrested.Two of the migrants, who almost suffocated, were boys aged between 10-12. The others were between 15-20 years old. In August 2015, 71 migrants died in Austria after being locked in a van by smugglers. Dec 18, 2016

Austria’s polling stations have closed following the presidential elections on 4 December. The first projection put independent candidate Alexander Van der Bellen at 53.6%, ahead of far-right Freedom Party’s Norbert Hofer with 46,4%. 6.4 million Austrians were asked to cast their vote again following the annulment of the first election in April because of irregularities in the postal votes.The final election results are expected within the next two days.
