New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI): In wake of the summons issued to Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a drugs case, the rival parties on Monday demanded his resignation for a fair investigation. Young Entrepreneurs in Manipur generate employment for locals

Manipur, Dec 22 (ANI): After obtaining his master's degree in Social Work from Maharashtra, Aaron Pam Shang returned back to his village in Imphal West and established Sharon industries in 2010. He produces a wide range of products including phenyl, dish wash, cleaning detergents and herbal disinfectants and even supply raw material to local self-help groups to generate employment. The aim was to generate employment for the youth. Aaron markets his products in Manipur and has achieved a monthly turnover of Rs. 10 lakh. He has set-up an outlet in Nagampal and sells raw material to SHGs and others. At present, eight workers are employed in the factory. With the decline in insurgency, many educated youth from Manipur are setting up businesses in their villages and towns. It not only helps in generating revenue for the state but provides work to many unemployed youth. Dec 22, 2014

Punjab CM defends state Revenue Minister after ED summons him in drug racket case

Amritsar/ New Delhi, Dec 21 (ANI): In a major jolt to Shiromani Akali Dal, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia in a drug racket case. Majithia's name first surfaced in the Rs 6,000 crore international synthetic drug case when Jagdish Singh Bhola, who is a dismissed Deputy Superintendent of Police, claimed that the youth Akali leader had assisted him in procuring synthetic chemicals and precursors from owners of pharmaceutical units in Punjab. While politicos from rival parties slammed the minister, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal defended him saying summon does not mean he is a culprit in the case. Dec 21, 2014

Govt tables GST Bill in Lok Sabha, Jaitley says bill may increase taxation

New Delhi, Dec 19 (ANI): The Central government on Friday tabled the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill in Lok Sabha. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the government aims to bring the tax into effect from April 1, 2016. Government will compensate its state governments for revenue losses due to the new nationwide Goods and Service Tax. He added GST will also add to country's gross domestic product (GDP). The bill introduced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley needs the support of two thirds of members of parliament as well as ratification by state legislatures which is expected to happen by the next session of parliament.
