Pradeep Kasni probing land scams gets transferred by Haryana govt

Gurgaon, Dec 31 (ANI): IAS Officer Pradeep Kasni was transferred by the Haryana government allegedly in wake of land deal mafia threats as Kasni was on the verge of exposing land scams. The move comes days after Kasni sent a report on nexus between developers and revenue officials. The development comes within a month Kasni took over the post. He had only a month ago been given his posting as Divisional Commissioner of Gurgaon. Kasni said that he has been transferred many times by various governments. He added that whenever new government comes to power it does not want the previous officers to continue working. Dec 31, 2014

Arun Jaitley promises simplified tax regime

New Delhi, Dec 26 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday (December 26) promised a simplified tax structure, but did not specify any deadline. Jaitley made the comments while addressing recruits of the Indian Revenue Service in New Delhi. Jaitley also called upon the taxmen to be both "firm and fair" while calculating taxes. New Delhi/ Ludhiana, Dec 26 (ANI): Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia was produced before the Enforcement Directorate on Friday to be questioned. SAD leader Manjit Singh said that Majithia is questioned as a witness not an accused as there is no warrant against him and added that if anything is found against him law will take its course. AAP leader HS Phoolka said that Majithia should be questioned as an accused and nobody should be allowed to accompany him. Dec 26, 2014
