Englands oldest hotel collapses following overnight blaze

A fire has destroyed what is said to be Englands oldest hotel, the Royal Clarence Hotel in Exeter which dates back to 1769.The blaze broke out at an art gallery before quickly spreading to the hotel, early on 29 October. Guests were evacuated and nobody was injured. Oct 29, 2016

A deal brokered by 24 countries to allow the creation of a massive 600,000 sq mile marine sanctuary in the Antarctic ocean. First known fossilised dinosaur brain tissue found in Sussex

An unassuming brown pebble, found more than a decade ago by a fossil hunter in East Sussex, has been confirmed as the first example of fossilised brain tissue from a dinosaur. The fossil, most likely from a species closely related to Iguanodon, displays distinct similarities to the brains of modern-day crocodiles and birds. Meninges - the tough tissues surrounding the actual brain - as well as tiny capillaries and portions of adjacent cortical tissues have been preserved as mineralised ghosts. Oct 27, 2016
