Reptile keeper baits 4.5m hungry crocodile before proposing to girlfriend

A reptile handler has proposed to his girlfriend inside an enclosure at the Australian Reptile Park just metres from Elvis, the hungry 4.5m crocodile in residence. According to the Mail Online, Elvis was dubbed the crankiest crocodile in Australia and this year celebrated his 50th birthday by eating half a cow. Before arriving at the park he apparently had a brief stay at a breeding farm where he ate several stablemates. The brave keeper, Billy Collett, an employee at the Australian Reptile Park, got down on one knee in front of an audience of park visitors and a crocodile he had tempted with a hunk of red meat just moments before. Collett is Head of Reptiles at the park and his fiancee, Siobhan Oxley, had willingly agreed to help feed the crocodile earlier that week, but with little idea of what was in store. She accepted the proposal tearfully. Nov 4, 2016
