Pakistan to challenge bail to Lakhvi: Abdul Basit

New Delhi, Dec 21 (ANI): Pakistan High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit said that mastermind of 2008 Mumbai attacks was put under house arrest immediately after a court granted him bail. Pakistani prosecutors are to appeal against a court decision to grant bail to a man accused of plotting a militant assault that killed 166 people and seriously strained ties between the nuclear-armed neighbours. The decision on Thursday to grant bail to Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi came two days after Pakistan's worst ever militant attack in a school in Peshawar city. Basit said that the Pakistani government will challenge court’s order. The Pakistani government appeared to have been taken by surprise by the court decision and state prosecutor Chaudhry Azhar said it would be challenged. Dec 21, 2014

Residents protest for not being allowed to cast their vote in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec14 (ANI): Residents of Jammu and Kashmir held a protest on Sunday (December 14) for not being allowed to cast their vote after being asked to show their identification card which they lost in the recent floods. The fourth phase of polling is taking place in 18 constituencies of the state including the main cities of Srinagar and Jammu as residents brave the cold to come out and vote for change and development. A voter said that even after showing the slip, they are not allowed to vote. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of villages were devastated, including Srinagar, in September by the worst flooding in decades in the Kashmir valley. Meanwhile, a planning officer, Masood Ahmad Khan said that they are just following the instructions given by the election commission. The voters were showing the slips that they had been given before the elections and were very angry for not being allowed to vote. Dec 14, 2014
