NIA Chief visits blast site in Burdwan

Burdwan / New Delhi, Oct 24 (ANI): The Director General (DG) of National Investigation Agency (NIA), Sharad Kumar, on Friday (October 24) visited blast sites in Burdwan to monitor the probe. The explosions in Burdwan district in West Bengal on October 02 had left two suspected militants dead, while the city court has sent three accused in police custody till October 22. Later, two women were also arrested in connection with the blast on October 05. The involvement of militant outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba and Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami (Bangladesh-based) are being suspected in the case as a large number of watch dials, SIM cards, and other tools required to make improvised explosive devices were found in the house. Politicos react as Sharad Pawar talks of referendum on Vidarbha

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Political reactions flowed on Monday after NCP Chief Sharad Pawar talked of a referendum on the separate state of Vidarbha, carved out of Maharashtra. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that there should be no place for referendum in democracy regarding division of states. Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that all work should be done within the constitutional limits and placing a referendum does not come within it. Meanwhile, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that when Congress and NCP were in power they did not do anything for the state's development and now when it is time for accountability they are coming up with election stunts. Ahead of Maharashtra polls, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar had said that the Election Commission should hold a referendum in the Vidarbha region over demand for a separate state. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yadav said he did not leave a single opportunity to deliver a speech. Supporting the Public Sector Undertakings (PSU), Yadav also criticised government's decision to disinvest stake in some leading PSUs. He said this decision has been wrongly-timed and the prices of the shares of these PSUs have started falling since then.
