Leaders from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India and Pakistan would meet in Kathmandu for two days for the plenary session from November 26 for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Nepalese rock band enthralls audience at the 8th South Asian Bands Festival 2014

New Delhi, Nov 13 (ANI): Bands from SAARC countries performed at the 8th South Asian Bands Festival 2014 in New Delhi. The event was organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and NGO Seher. The Nepalese rock band, 'Mukti and Revival' mesmerized the audience with their performance. Members of the band believe that culture of India and Nepal is very similar and such events help to strengthen it further. A total of 14 rock bands from across the Subcontinent performed at the Festival. Besides Nepal, bands from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India (SAARC) and observer country, France played music from across various genres. Maldives Defence Minister arrives in India to boost bilateral ties

New Delhi, Oct 21 (ANI): Minister of Defence and National Security of the Republic of Maldives, Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim, arrived in India on Tuesday to meet his Indian counterpart, Arun Jaitley, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral defence cooperation between the two nations. On Tuesday, Nazim who is on a three-day visit, was accorded the Guard of Honour and he offered homage to India's bravehearts at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in New Delhi. Post the defence-level talks, the Indian side is expected to push for closer military ties with Maldives and the host country's assistance will focus primarily on capacity building of the Armed Forces while New Delhi will also supply equipment and assist in training. SAARC energy ministers meet in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): The fifth meeting of the energy ministers of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) was held in New Delhi on Friday, with an aim to strengthen energy cooperation among the member countries. Energy ministers and senior officials from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka were part of the meeting. India's Power and Coal Minister, Piyush Goyal, said that the similarities between the socio-economic conditions would help the SAARC nations to stay together and become a regional economic power house.
