Historian Bipan Chandra dies at age of 86

New Delhi, Aug 30 (ANI): Prominent Indian author and historian Bipan Chandra died on Saturday morning in his sleep at the age of 86. Chandra was considered to be one of foremost scholars on India independence movement and was an authority on Mahatma Gandhi. According to family sources, he died around 6 AM on Saturday morning at his home in Gurgaon. He had not been keeping well over the last few months. Chandra taught at the University of Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru University and was also associated with the University Grants Commission of New Delhi. Sri Lankas Tamil leaders meet Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): A delegation of Sri Lanka’s Tamil National Alliance (TNA) met on Friday (August 22) India’s foreign minister Sushma Swaraj and they would urge New Delhi to ensure devolution of power to provinces in their country. TNA leaders would push their case for full implementation of the thirteenth amendment to the Constitution. They are also expected to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 13A amendment came into existence due to India -Sri Lanka accord signed in 1987 between then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and then Sri Lankan President JR Jayewardene.
