PSLV C24 successfully launches India's second navigation satellite

Sriharikota, April 04 (ANI): An Indian rocket carrying the country’s second navigation satellite, IRNSS-1B, on Friday blasted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. With the successful launch of this satellite, India’s quest for building a strong navigational system equivalent to U.S’s Global Positioning System (GPS) accomplished its second major milestone. Second in the fleet of seven similar satellites, this would contribute in setting up the Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System. The 44 meter, 320 ton, Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle C24 (PSLV-C24) lifted off exactly at 5.14 pm from Sriharikota, a barrier island in Bay of Bengal and placed the navigation satellite in space.
