Opposition supporters celebrate ahead of official presidential results in Gabon

Supporters of Gabon opposition candidate Jean Ping celebrated in the Gabon capital, Liberville, after initial results from the countries presidential election showed him in the lead. Ping claimed victory over current President Ali Bongo, who has also said he expected to emerge victorious. Brazilians protesting the impeachment of President Rousseff clashed with police as they started fires in the street, with military police responding by firing tear gas. Suspended President Dilma Rousseff is on trial for impeachment for allegedly breaking budgetary rules, a charge she denies. Apple faces €13bn tax penalty for receiving illegal state aid in Ireland

The European Commission alleges that that the US tech giant Apple received illegal state aid from Ireland. It now faces the largest tax penalty ever to be paid in Europe, €13bn (£11.1bn). The commission have claimed that the Irish government provided a deal to Apple in return for job creation in Ireland, which was unfair as it allowed Apple to pay less tax than rival firms.
