Woman entrepreneur in Manipur carves a success story

Imphal, Sep 08 (ANI): At his tiny house located in Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai in Imphal, the 61-year-old Jina Khumujam is busy preparing herbal soap. She took up soap making in 2004. The variety of soaps under the brand name of Ma-ngal are being produced with the extracts of locally available fruits like Lemon, Xylosma, Aloe-Vera, Citrus latipes and Cucumber. Jina's soap brand is a symbol of women empowerment and enlightenment. Jina also has the expertise in recycling waste materials into productive and income generating items apart from making soaps. She wishes to open up a show room for her products and a training centre. Jina's soap making farm has been a source of earning for some other destitute poor women, like widows and those living with HIV/AIDS. They come to her house and together make soaps, and handicraft. Former teacher dedicates his life as 'father' to 12 HIV positive adopted children

Meerut, Aug 25 (ANI): A former college teacher, Ajay Sharma, in Uttar Pradesh, dedicated his life as 'father' to 12 HIV positive boys he adopted. The Samaritan calls his care home 'Satyakam Care Home' which has become well known address in the city of Meerut. The children, between 7 and 17, all have one thing in common that they were born to parents with AIDS. Sharma says he decided to dedicate his life to these kids after he survived a brain hemorrhage in 2004. Sharma has received help in his effort. His children are being taught by experienced teachers in their pursuit of education and seasoned medical practitioners look after their health. Aug 25, 2014

Artificial limb center in Kanpur provides aid to injured in war torn areas

Kanpur, Aug 21 (ANI): Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) has earned goodwill for the country by providing artificial limbs to the land mine victims in Afghanistan and by setting up a limb fitting facility centre. ALIMCO, which is based in Kanpur, distributes aids and appliances to the disabled free of cost and at concessional rates. Recently, it provided a ray of hope to the survivors of war torn Afghanistan as it set camps in the country where experts took measurements of the disabled for their artificial limbs and also taught how to use them.
