INS Vikramaditya to increase power & capability of Indian Navy: K Raja Menon

New Delhi, Nov 16 (ANI): As the much awaited USD 2.3 billion aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya is set to be inducted into the Indian Navy on Saturday, Rear Admiral (Retd) K Raja Menon said that the carrier will definitely increase the power and capability of the Indian Navy in the long run. He said that the carrier will make the Navy independent and India would no longer be dependent on other countries for the same. Defence Minister AK Antony will today commission INS Vikramaditya at the Sevmash shipyard in Russia. Further, Menon said that India would definitely need more carriers and even powerful ones, but the present deal is more than satisfactory for now. Nov 16, 2013

Indian army hopes for better relations with China after joint military exercise

Guwahati, Nov 15 (ANI): Indian army is hopeful of an improved relationship with their Chinese counterparts as both sides concluded their ten-day long joint military exercise on Thursday. The joint exercise to combat terrorism took place in China's southwestern province of Chengdu. The Indian soldiers returned back to India on Thursday night. Interacting with the reporter, an army officer, D.S. Shisodiya said that he is satisfied with the training as both contingents had a 'nice' professional interaction. The joint training exercise between the two countries was one of the major bilateral defence cooperation and is third in the series which started in 2007. The first was held at Kuming, China in December 2007 while the second was held at Belgaum, India in November 2008. Nov 15, 2013

Chengdu, Nov 11 (ANI): Continuing the 10-day joint military drill, army troops from India and China held a basketball match in order to enhance bilateral ties during session taking place in Chengdu province in China. The soldiers practiced field firing using weapons of the other country to combat militancy and tested their physical endurance during the obstacle course by indulging in training exercises.
