Members of Ex-ULFA co-ordination committee urge people to vote sensibly

Guwahati, April 05 (ANI): The coordination committee of All Assam Ex-United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), in Guwahati dubbed president of peasant organization Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, Akhil Gogoi, as a Maoist and urged people to cast their vote wisely in upcoming general elections. President of the co-ordination committee, Bhaskar Kalita, while addressing a news conference with other members, claimed that Gogoi had undergone training in a Maoist camp. He also said that they do not want youth from Assam to die in the name of armed revolution. Moreover, Kalita appealed to the people of Assam to cast their vote wisely. Apr 5, 2014

Pervez Musharraf's convoy escapes blast

New Delhi, Apr 3 (ANI): Former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf on Thursday survived an assassination attempt. According to reports, an explosion took place, moments after Musharraf's convoy passed through the Faizabad flyover. Musharraf was being shifted late night from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) to his farmhouse when the blast occurred. Nobody was hurt in the incident. India aims to expand nuclear energy generation capacity by 2032: PM

New Delhi, Apr 2 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Wednesday that the country aims to expand nuclear energy generation capacity to more than 62000 mega watt by 2032 with additional safety features and proliferation resistant technologies. Singh was addressing the audience on nuclear weapon free world at Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) in New Delhi. The Prime Minister also said that there is no theme more important or for that matter politically more challenging to determine country's international security. He further added that the very first resolution of the first session of the United Nations General Assembly dealt with the issue of nuclear technology and the need to harness it for peaceful applications.
