PM Modi pays tributes to Abul Kalam Azad and Acharya Kripalani on their birth anniversary

New Delhi, Nov 11 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to Acharya Jivatram Bhagwandas Kripalani as well as freedom fighter Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on their birth anniversary. Modi tweeted, "Scholar, freedom fighter and a man who devoted his life towards nation building, I salute Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on his birth anniversary". Azad was one of the tallest national leaders of his time and promoted the cause of Hindu Muslim unity as well as secularism and socialism. His contribution to laying the foundation of education in independent India is recognised by celebrating his birthday as "National Education Day" across India. The prime minister also paid tribute to Acharya Kripalani. "Tributes to Acharya Kripalani on his birth anniversary. His ideals and strong commitment to serve the poor continue to inspire," he added. Young artistes in fields of music, dance and drama conferred in Agartala

Agartala, Aug 24 (ANI): National academy for music, dance and drama - Sangeet Natak Akademi ___ honoured young artistes for showing conspicuous talent in the fields of performing arts. The Akademi conferred awards to artistes belonging to music, dance, theatre, traditional, folk, tribal dance and mime and puppetry in Agartala city of Tripura. Tripura___s Governor, Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya, and Sangeet Natak Akademi Chairperson, Leela Samson, presented the ___Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2012 to 32 young artists from across the country. During the awards ceremony the artistes were given rupees 25,000 cash prize and a citation. Also, to find skillful artists and to support them in numerous ways, the Akademi has set up centres in northeastern regions of Manipur and Assam too. The Akademi has been awarding Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar since 2006. So far, 192 awards have been given to young artists from across the country. Condemning Swaroopanand's remark, the delegation said they monitored all the Hindu rituals being performed in the Sai Baba's temple very closely and did not find anything anti-ancient Hindu tradition. Taking a dig at Swami Swaroopanand, Swami Acharya Pramod Krishnam, one of the senior Hindu priests said the traditional rituals and routine followed by the temple do not violate norms of ancient Hindu customs.
