Welcome to Hell: 1,000 zombies protest on the streets of Hamburg, Germany

A thousand zombies staged a performance protest in Hamburg on July 5, ahead of the G20 summit, to highlight what they feel the summit should be focused on. The 1000 Gestalten activist group gathered 1,000 people for the silent, eerie protest. The group dressed the zombies in grey from head to toe and for several days ahead of the beginning of the G20 summit, on July 7, the protesters have been popping up in small groups across the city. Their performance piece culminated in a large gathering on July 5, when organizers said 1,000 of them walked slowly through the city. The group says they have staged the protest because they want the G20 to stand for a more open, egalitarian society, rather than power in the hands of the few. Nearly naked PETA activists fill the sky with blood in protest of bullfighting

Nearly 100 PETA and Anima Naturalis supporters gathered in the centre of Pamplona on July 5 ahead of the Running of the Bulls at the San Fermín festival which takes place from July 6-14. To highlight the cruelty of the event the chanting protesters simultaneously broke banderillas containing red powdered paint above their heads, covering themselves and filling the air around them with blood. PETA says that prior to the Running of the Bulls event, the bulls are purposely angered and tormented with electric prods and sharp sticks before they endure a slow and painful death in the events. Animals should be respected and protected, not chased by a crowd into an arena to be tormented, speared, and stabbed, says PETA Director Elisa Allen. Bullfighting has no place in a civilised society. PETA is calling on kind people around the world to reject this bloody spectacle, and wee urging Pamplona to join the more than 100 Spanish cities and towns that have banned it. Jul 5, 2017
