England/ Belgium, Jan 12 (ANI): The covers of British newspapers on Monday were dominated by the unprecedented march that took place in Paris. On Sunday, world leaders including Muslim and Jewish statesmen linked arms to lead more than a million French citizens through the French capital to pay tribute to victims of Islamist militant attacks. President Francois Hollande and leaders from Germany, Italy, Israel, Turkey, Britain and the Palestinian territories among others, moved off from the central Place de la Republique ahead of a sea of French and other flags. At least 3.7 million people took part in silent marches throughout France, the biggest public demonstration ever registered in the country. A total of 1.2 million to 1.6 million marched in Paris and a further 2.5 million in other cities, the Interior Ministry said. Delhi University students on a tour to explore northeast region

Guwahati, Jan 12 (ANI): The Dharohar-Gyanodaya Express train, carrying 870 students and teachers of Delhi University set off on an educational tour to the Northeast on December 18 in an endeavor to expose the students to the rich culture and heritage of the region. The train was flagged off from Safdarjung Railway station by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Union Minister of state for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal. Started in 2012 as the ‘College-on-Wheels' project, this is the fifth edition of the Gyanodaya Express that will cover all the 8 northeastern states and conclude on December 29. The train first arrived in Guwahati from where the students, divided into 9 groups, were taken to various parts of the Northeast. During the 7-day long trip, the students did a variety of sightseeing activities, interacted with the locals and worked on a specific project related to the Northeast. Jan 12, 2015

Woman attacked with acid in Delhi, Social activists condemn

New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Social activists on Sunday strongly condemned the acid attack on a 30-year-old woman that took place in North West Delhi's Keshav Puram area. According to the reports, the woman suffered severe burns when two bike-borne men threw acid on her. One of the accused arrested by the police has been indentified as the woman's landlord. Brain behind the project, Sunil Singh, said the idea occurred to him as fire brigade department faced difficulties in negotiating the narrow by-lanes of the city. Singh said each bike is fitted with a siren and hooter and two fire extinguishing cylinders with a capacity of 9 liter water and foam chemical container.
