Congress workers protest against Tapas Pal in Kolkata

Kolkata, July 13 (ANI): The workers of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) staged a protest on Sunday against the state government for not taking any action against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP from Krishnanagar Tapas Pal. The protesters marched the streets with banners and shouted slogans. Earlier, Tapas Pal, who has been advised to take complete bed rest after he complained of a sudden increase in blood pressure, had kick started a controversy when he was caught on tape exhorting party workers to kill (CPI-M) activists even as he himself asserted he will gun down his rivals and let loose his "boys" to rape their women. After his comments created huge uproar in the country, the TMC MP had to tender to his party and the media an apology. Jul 13, 2014

It Happens: Three- day painting exhibition brings cheer to specially-abled

Siliguri, July 11 (ANI): Anubhab, a voluntary organisation in eastern India organised a three- day painting- cum- sale exhibition to bring cheer to the specially- abled. A specially- abled boy, Pradip Nag, attending the programme, said that he was happy to be there. The organisers will be showcasing more than 30 paintings by an eminent painter, Binit Sinha, from Kolkata who told the reporter that it is the duty of society to look after the specially- abled people. The organisation was started in 1998 and since then it has devoted voluntary service in support of Round Table India, 232. Kolkata, July 09 (ANI): A writ petition has been filed against TMC MP Tapas Pal who came in controversies over his statement in which he said that he will send his boys to rape the CPI (M) women. Petitioner's lawyer Subrata Mukhopadhyay said that the case is open for hearing and the Court has questioned Pal for his misbehaviour.
