Tamil Nadu holds 'Renergy 2014' to encourage use of renewable energy

Chennai, June 14 (ANI): A three-day exhibition on renewable energy sources, 'Renergy 2014' was held in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu, starting Thursday. Hundreds of Indian and international companies set up stalls to exhibit products and participated in conferences and seminars that covered larger use of renewable energy sources. They discussed the use of solar energy, wind energy, waste to energy, biomass and energy efficiency in India. The aim of the exhibition was to give private companies a common platform where ideas on sustainable power generation could be exchanged. Kudankulam anti-nuke federation rubbishes IBs allegation of Greenpeace stalling development

Chennai, June 13 (ANI): People's movement against nuclear energy, Kudankulam anti-nuke federation, slammed the Indian Intelligence Bureau (IB) for leveling foreign funding allegations in its report submitted to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The IB, in its report on June 03, has described the Greenpeace, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), as 'a threat to national economic security' and has claimed that there could be negative implications of the NGOs' role on GDP growth ranging from 2-3 per cent per annum. The report said that foreign funded NGOs negatively impact economic development in the country, while citing activities ranging from protests against nuclear and coal plants and funding of sympathetic research. Speaking in Chennai, Convener of Kudankulam anti-nuke federation, G. Crisil and Biocon were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 8.60% and 6.76% along with Godrej Industries and Muthoot Finance with an increase of 6.37% and 4.95% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Suzlon Energy and JP Infratec with a decrease of 4.98% and 4.80% along with Bharti Airtel and HDIL with a decrease of 3.92% and 3.73% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 92.14 points at 15,459.10 while the banking sector is up 26.43 points at 17,718.78 and the realty sector is up 11.97 points at 2,109.02.
