Al Qaedas roots growing deeper in Pakistan

Peshawar, Mar 31: Dr. Shahid Afridi, who helped CIA to trace Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad in 2011 will now face a fresh probe for having foreign links. An appellate forum under the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FRC) has directed the Khyber Agency to prepare a case for his involvement in anti-state activities in collusion with foreign intelligence agencies, including CIA. It reflects Pakistan’s growing frustration for being exposed of sheltering al-Qaeda founder, Osama bin Laden, the perpetrator of 9/11 attack in which 3,000 people were killed. In June 2012, Dr. Afridi was convicted by a court in Khyber tribal region and sentenced for allegedly supporting the Lashkar-e-Islam militant group. The court said it did not have jurisdiction to try him for working for the CIA to trace bin Laden. Mar 31, 2014

Badalta Manzar (March 28, 2014): An independent news report on Jammu and Kashmir

Moving away from horizontal expansion of residential houses, vertical construction has been introduced for the first time in Srinagar, in order to ease the pressure on city land. The Jammu and Kashmir Government is promoting vertical housing colonies in Srinagar in an effort to stop the trend of consumption of agricultural land for residential and commercial purposes. The public health care centre at Akingam was set up with the aim to provide better health care facilities to residents of the area, but this goal has not been met, as the PHC lacks basic facilities like X-rays and USG. Jammu has been waiting for its first artificial lake for long. Since the foundation stone was laid in December 2009 for the 140 crore ambitious project, it has missed many of its deadlines.
