Mulayam aborts AMU trip, politicos react

Lucknow/ New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has cancelled his visit to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) after protests against the UP government's handling of the Muzaffarnagar riots. Yadav was to address a seminar on the campus on Monday. There were protests on the campus by a section of teachers after Yadav was invited to the seminar organised by Sir Syed Movement.The reason for the cancellation was said to be the model code of conduct. Meanwhile, the BJP and Congress supported the protests against Mulayam's visit and said that this was expected as Muslim community was deeply hurt by the way the Samajwadi party handled the Muzaffarnagar riots.
