Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag receives Guard of Honour

New Delhi, Aug 01 (ANI): Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag on Friday received Guard of Honour at South Block in national capital Delhi. Suhag has taken over as the head of the 1.3 million strong Indian Army, succeeding General Bikram Singh on Thursday. Earlier, the new army chief also paid respect to the martyrs at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate. He will have a tenure of 30 months as the 26th Chief of the armed forces. Aug 1, 2014

Chennai, July 31 (ANI): Leader of Peoples Movement against Nuclear Energy, S P Udayakumar, met deputy chief of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party, M K Stalin, in Tamil Nadu to discuss various problems faced by villagers because of the working units of Kudankulam nuclear power project. Political leaders condemn attack on Northeast couple

New Delhi, July 28 (ANI): Political leaders on Monday condemned the brutal attack on a couple from Northeast. According to reports, the couple was beaten by four men in Nathupur, Gurgaon. The attackers were armed with knives and started beating the couple. The husband received injuries on the head and is being treated at Nelekanth hospital in Gurgaon. IAF helicopter crashes in Uttar Pradesh, 7 dead

Sitapur, July 26 (ANI): A helicopter of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh killing all seven people on board, including two pilots. According to reports, the advanced landing chopper-307 was on its way to Allahabad from Bareilly when it crashed in a field in village Ahirwa in Sitapur district, around 70 Kms away from Lucknow. The pilot gave a _may-day_ (emergency) call and soon after, there was a loss of contact on radar and radio. There is no reported damage on ground. Reportedly, eleven helicopters belonging to the armed forces have crashed in the past three years. Jul 26, 2014
