Manipur/ Tripura, Jan 02 (ANI): Carols, Christmas trees, prayers and cakes…it was Christmas time again!! Things are improving in Manipur and the people celebrated the birthday of Jesus Christ, with enthusiasm. People from different faiths visited churches to offer prayers on the festival that sends out a message of love and brotherhood. Everybody wished for peace and prosperity in the region. In Tripura also, people from all religions came together to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm. Hundreds gathered at the Santir Rani church in Agartala to take part in the annual Christmas Eve midnight mass. Markets were crowded with people of all age groups buying gifts and cakes for their loved ones. Carol singing, dances, and other forms of merrymaking marked the occasion. 7th annual Tamchon football tournament attracts many spectators in New Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 29 (ANI): The 7th Annual Tamchon Football tournament, a 15-day carnival of football and cultural extravaganza, was inaugurated on November 16 at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi. A total of 16 teams comprising of players from different northeastern states are participating in the tournament to promote peace, friendship and unity among the youth of the country. The event has been organized under the aegis of Tanghkul Naga Society Delhi with support from various government and private agencies. During the opening day ceremony, young artists from Tripura performed a harvest dance. Donny J from Assam enthralled the audience with his melodious voice. Later, choreography was also performed by Donny, along with his group. The main attraction on the opening day of the tournament was a match between Zeliangrong Football Club (ZFC) and SSPP (FC). India plans to set up 5 such posts with Bangladesh to further boost trade and people to people contact between the northeastern states and Bangladesh. The Akhaura land customs is one of the most important international trading land ports in eastern India, dealing with around 4,500 people every month travelling between the two countries. Each state has a dedicated pavilion at the fair with different themes. Around 20 exhibitors from Nagaland showcased a variety of products like handloom, artificial jewellery, decorative items, paintings and cultural artifacts. Emilo, an entrepreneur from Nagaland, has come to the capital for the first time. He is thrilled by the response of the people. A total of 19 tribes, some of which are on the verge of extinction, came together at the Nazrul Kalakshetra auditorium in Agartala for a tribal cultural heritage meet. The two-day long event, organized by ONGC Tripura, aimed at promoting tribal culture of the state. The audience was enthralled by traditional dances of tribes like Reang, Chakma, Jamatia, Kaloi, Lusai and Uchoi. Models dressed in traditional attires of their respective tribes walked the ramp. Akhaura, Nov 4 (ANI): Trade between India and its neighbouring Bangladesh is facing the brunt of continuous strikes and unrest in Dhaka as hundreds of passengers are also stuck due to halt in bus services across the border. On Saturday, the bus services resumed after almost a week, but the visitors expressed their anger, as the transportation service to Bangladesh is still very uncertain due to regular strikes in Dhaka. Trade in Tripura and Bangladesh has been badly affected and the business community claims that there is a dip in the number of trucks transporting goods across the border. Normally around 200 trucks loaded with various items from Bangladesh enter Tripura through the Akhaura LCS but at present due to the adverse law and order situation in Bangladesh, the number of vehicles plying is less than 20.
