Union Budget proposes to work towards universal social security system, announces 'Atal pension yoja

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the General Budget for 2015-16 in the Lok Sabha on Saturday. Jaitley announced the Universal Social Security scheme for all. Under this scheme, Jaitley announced insurance coverage for accidents, health and life. Jaitley added that 'Atal Pension Yojana' scheme would be launched to provide a defined pension to the people. The government also proposed to launch PM Suraksha Bima Yojana which will increase the access to insurance. This scheme would be linked to Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. Feb 28, 2015

Mayawati targets Modi for not awarding Bharat Ratna to Kanshi Ram, BJP slams

New Delhi, Jan 03 (ANI):BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday lashed out at prime minister Narendra Modi for ignoring Dalit icons while awarding Bharat Ratna to Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Madan Mohan Malviya. Mayawati said that Vajpayee should get the Bharat Ratna but also demanded that the award be conferred on Dalit icons like Kanshiram as well. Suspense continues over government formation in J-K, BJP asserts importance

New Delhi, Jan 2 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party once again said on Friday that no stable government would be possible in Jammu and Kashmir without the party's participation, even as the suspense over government formation in the state continues. Two days ago, People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti, the leader of the largest party, had also met the Governor. After the meeting, Mehbooba Mufti appeared to lean towards the BJP as she invoked former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's vision and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi "has a big responsibility" towards the state. In the five-phased recent state assembly polls, the PDP won 28 seats in the 87-member Jammu and Kashmir assembly; the BJP won 25, while the National Conference and the Congress won 15 and 12 seats respectively. The majority mark was 44, which none of the four political parties achieved. So far, no party or combination of parties, has staked claim to form government. Jan 2, 2015

Raghubar Das sworn-in as Jharkhand CM; PM Modi skips ceremony due to bad weather

Ranchi, Dec 28 (ANI): BJP leader Raghubar Das was sworn in as the first non-tribal chief minister of Jharkhand on Sunday. He was administered oath of office and secrecy by Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium in Ranchi. Four cabinet ministers Nilkanth Singh Munda, Chandreswar Prasad Singh, Chandraprakash Choudhary and Louis Marandi were also sworn in along with Raghubar Das. Elaborate arrangements were made for the function which was attended by a host of leaders although Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah were unable to attend the ceremony due to bad weather conditions. Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Nitin Gadkari were also present at the ceremony. Das, a five-time MLA from Jamshedpur East since 1995, retained the seat this time as well after he defeated Anand Bihari Dubey of the Congress. Dec 28, 2014

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited Atal Bihari Vajpayee's residence and greeted the former PM on his birthday.
