India successfully launches third navigation satellite

Sriharikota, Oct 16 (ANI): India witnessed the successful launch of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C26) carrying the IRNSS-1C (Indian Navigation Satellite System) satellite, the third in a series of seven planned satellite launches from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday (October 16). The IRNSS-1C, is the third of the seven navigation satellites to put in place India's own navigation satellite system and has wide-ranging applications in terrestrial, aerial and marine navigation. Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), K Radhakrishnan said that the injection of PSLV-C26 was very accurate. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Science and Technology, Doctor Jitendra Singh said that he could see India realizing its dream of 'Make in India' through space technology. Oct 16, 2014

Sriharikota, Oct 16 (ANI): The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has completed all the preparations to launch third of seven series of satellites to put in place India's own navigation satellite system. The launch would take place on Thursday from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh state. Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C26) will carry the 1425 kilograms Indian Navigation Satellite IRNSS-1C carrying two types of payloads - a navigation payload and a ranging payload. Oct 16, 2014

Police detain vehicle carrying explosives in West Bengal

Purulia, Oct 12 (ANI): In the backdrop of recent blast, Police detained a vehicle carrying explosives in Purulia district of West Bengal. This vehicle, a Tata Sumo, was going towards Barabazar from Boro area. Police recovered 1100 detonators and 2800 gelatine sticks from this car. Two men, identified as SK Sahabul and Rakesh Mudi have been arrested in this case. Reportedly, these men were going to deliver the explosives found in the car to a third person, Chandan Singh of Barabazar area. Purulia police is interrogating to find out if these huge quantities of explosives were being carried in connection to any Maoist or terrorist activity. This incident comes close on the heels of an explosion in Burdwan district of West Bengal that left two suspected militants dead on October 05. Oct 12, 2014
