Reactions flow in after Maneka Gandhi says minor rape-accused should be treated on par with adults

New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): Mixed reactions flow in as Minister for women and child development Maneka Gandhi said that minors accused of rape should be treated on par with adults. NCP leader Majid Memon and SP leader Naresh Agarwal said that juvenile act should not be scrapped just like that. While, BSP Chief Mayawati said that the matter has to be discussed before taking any decision on the same. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and DCW Chairperson Barkha Shukla applauded Gandhi and said that in Nirbhaya case too, the juvenile was the cruelest and so the change in the act would be a welcome step. On one hand, Sanjay Raut of the Shiv Sena stated that he welcomes the decision as it sends out a clear message to everyone that corruption will not be spared. While on the other hand, Naresh Agarwal of the SP was of the opinion that strict action should be taken against the media, which sometimes forces leaders to pay for the news to be published. Bodh Gaya, July 07 (ANI): Buddhist monks on Monday offered special prayers to mark the first anniversary of serial blasts that rocked the Mahabodhi Temple located in Bodh Gaya, one of holiest shrines in eastern India where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. A series of explosions in and around Buddhism_s holiest shrine in Bihar injured two persons early on July 07, 2013, in what the government described as a ___terror___ attack. Meanwhile, district magistrate, Sanjay Agrawal, said security has been beefed up and adequate arrangements have been made for the tourists and monks.
