Indian Army and militants locked in fierce gun battle in Kupwara

Kupwara, Aug 23 (ANI): Fierce gun battle is going on between Indian army and militants in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Acting on an intelligence input, soldiers launched a search operation in Gugerpati area to nab ultras on Friday evening. The extremists hiding in the area opened fire at soldiers, leading to exchange of fire. Militants have been frequently attacking security bases in Kashmir since the 1990s, when there was a full-blown insurgency against Indian rule in a region over which India and Pakistan fought two of their three wars. Artificial limb center in Kanpur provides aid to injured in war torn areas

Kanpur, Aug 21 (ANI): Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) has earned goodwill for the country by providing artificial limbs to the land mine victims in Afghanistan and by setting up a limb fitting facility centre. ALIMCO, which is based in Kanpur, distributes aids and appliances to the disabled free of cost and at concessional rates. Recently, it provided a ray of hope to the survivors of war torn Afghanistan as it set camps in the country where experts took measurements of the disabled for their artificial limbs and also taught how to use them. Police arrest six Maoists in red corridor of Jharkhand

Chaibasa, Aug 17 (ANI): Police arrested six Maoists in India's red corridor of Chaibasa district in Jharkhand after acting on tip-off intelligence. Police have arrested the leading commander, two section commanders along with three hardcore Maoists of Jharkhand Regional Bhakpa (Maowadi), a communist party. DIG of Kolhan range, Mohammed Nehal, said that that they acted on exclusive intelligence information. The police recovered arms and explosives from the Maoists. Police arrests suspected Pakistan intelligence agent in Meerut

Meerut, Aug 17 (ANI): The Special Task Force arrested a suspected ISI agent (Inter-Services Intelligence of Pakistan) in Meerut city of Uttar Pradesh. Asif Ali, who was residing in the city is indicted of transferring primary information about the Indian Army to the ISI. Superintendent of STF of Meerut, Umesh Kumar, said that he engaged his team immediately to arrest the agent whose wife is in Pakistan. Kumar added that the STF has recovered Pakistan debit card and a bank chequebook from Ali. Aug 17, 2014
