New Delhi, Dec 13 (ANI): On the anniversary of 2001 Parliament attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives during attack. Along with PM Modi, former PM Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and BJP senior leader LK Advani also paid tribute to the martyrs. Earlier in the day, PM Modi had tweeted "We salute martyrs who lost their lives protecting the Temple of our Democracy on this day in 2001. Their sacrifices are etched in our memory". New Delhi, Dec 11 (ANI): Stirring a political hornet's nest, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Sakshi Maharaj on Thursday said that Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Vinayak Godse was equally a patriot and a nationalist, and should not be seen as a traitor or considered as one. Godse had assassinated Mahatma Gandhi by shooting him in the chest thrice at point-blank range on January 30, 1948 in New Delhi. New Delhi, Dec 11 (ANI): The Government has approved a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh each to the kin of victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The decision was taken by the Union Cabinet at a meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to reports, the amount is an additional compensation which will be given to the families of the riot victims apart from what they have so far received from the government and other agencies. Over 3,000 victims of the 1984 violence, triggered by the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, are likely to benefit from the government's announcement.
