Tripura to start exporting bamboo tiles to European Market

Tripura, April 08 (ANI): A Mumbai- based company Mutha Industries Private Limited that had set up a factory in western Tripura to make bamboo floor tiles will soon start exporting to European countries. The factory, set up at the bamboo park in Bodhjunjnagar Industrial Growth Centre, is the first of its kind in the country. Production has already started in the plant and in the next 3 months international standard commercial production will start. Technologies and machinery from foreign countries are being used in the unit and the employees have been trained by overseas trainers. There is a huge demand for bamboo floor tiles in the outside market. The Tripura government started developing India's first bamboo park five years ago in order to give a boost to bamboo-based industries. This unit has come has a boon for a large number of people by providing them employment opportunities. The company also plans to expand bamboo plantation in the state so as to get the required raw material and also provide employment to the bamboo farmers. Apr 8, 2014

Prashant Bhushan lauds EC's decision to defer gas price hike

New Delhi, Mar 25 (ANI): Lawyer and AAP leader Prashant Bhushan on Tuesday welcomed the move of the Indian Election Commission asking the central government to defer the proposal to hike gas prices which was set to come into effect from April 01 prior to the parliament polls scheduled for next month. A price increase had been due to come into effect on April 1, just days before India starts voting in an election that starts on April 7 and will end on May 12. Bhushan, said that such a catastrophic decision by the government would only help bigwigs like Reliance fill their pockets and would lead the country to face losses. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, who briefly controlled the state government in New Delhi, last month called for a criminal investigation into government officials and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani over the matter. Kejriwal had also called for the Election Commission to stall the price rise. Bhushan also hailed AAP for its initiative, but condemned the main opposition, Bharatiya Janata Party, for not opposing the hike when it was declared and accused it of being in the pockets of Reliance. New Delhi, March 19 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 2.08 points up to stand at 21,834.69. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 7.40 points up to stand at 6,524.05. Petronet LNG and TV18 Broadcast were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 5.44% and 4.55% along with Tata Steel and Hindalco Industries with an increase of 4.48% and 4.27% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include TCS and Indian Oil Corp with a decrease of 3.94% and 3.48% along with ONGC and Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd with a decrease of 3.00% and 2.94% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 5.35 points at 12,791.32 while the banking sector is up 82.85 points at 13,913.66 and the realty sector is down 6.29 points at 1,374.24. The skill development programme has been organized by the Development Commissioner for Handlooms and the Ministry of Textiles in collaboration with the Commerce and Industries department, Government of Manipur. In total 137 male weavers from various districts of the state are taking part in it. The weaving centre was inaugurated in February this year with an aim to encourage the men folk of the state to take up such self employment ventures and contribute to the state’s economy.
