Shivani, a white tigress at the zoo in Indore city, had given birth to four cubs last month after cross breeding with a yellow tiger, first such case in the country. However, three cubs died due to mishandling by the big cat. Meanwhile, Uttam Yadav, doctor at the zoo, said they did not want to send the lone surviving tiger cub to the mother as they feared that it might also be killed. In order to provide milk to the tiger cub, the zoo authorities carried on a small experiment where the tiger cub could be nursed by a female dog.
