Sultanpur, April 15 (ANI): BJP leader Varun Gandhi on Tuesday filed his nomination papers from Sultanpur Lok Sabha seat for the 2014 polls, after holding a massive roadshow. However, the road show was cut short as the local administration at Sahganj Chowk said permission was taken only for filing nomination and not for the road show. Gandhi is contesting against Congress’ Amita Singh, SP leader Shakeel Ahmed and BSP’s Pawan Pandey. Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi had slammed Varun, saying that he had lost his way and needs guidance. New Delhi, April 15 (ANI): Congress President Sonia Gandhi appealed on various TV channels that the current Lok Sabha polls was a fight to protect "the very heart and soul of India" from those who want to divide the people of this country. Without naming either Narendra Modi or the BJP in her telecast, Gandhi appealed to people to defeat "divisive and autocratic" forces which will "destroy" the Indian ethos. Political candidates make frantic final push for votes

Lucknow/ Agra/ Amethi, April 15 (ANI): Trailing in the polls and expecting a fair amount of voter turnout, candidates of political parties contesting the Lok Sabha polls made a final pitch for votes in the race to Lower House. During an election campaign in Lucknow, BJP President Rajnath Singh rubbished media reports on Modi wave made by senior party leader Murli Manohar Joshi. Meanwhile, campaigning for Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) party candidate Amar Singh during a roadshow in Agra, actor-turned-politician and member of RLD Jaya Prada seconded Joshi’s remark. In the meantime AAP’s Amethi candidate Kumar Vishwas said he would give a tough fight to both main parties and expose their hidden agendas. The ruling Congress Party is fighting a tough election under the leadership of Party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi. New Delhi, April 14 (ANI): Nation paid tribute to chief architect of the Indian constitution, Dr. BR Ambedkar on his 123rd birth anniversary on Monday. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, President Pranab Mukherjee, and Vice-President Hamid Ansari paid floral tribute to Ambedkar in New Delhi. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and diplomat Devyani Khobragade were also present at the event among many others. BJP Mahila Morcha protests against Madhusudan Mistry for remark on Swaraj

Vadodara, April 14 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party's Mahila Morcha on Monday hit out at Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Vadodara Madhusudan Mistry for his alleged "loose and vulgar statements" against BJP's senior leader Sushma Swaraj. Gujarat BJP Mahila Morcha President Jyotiben Pandya slammed Mistry for using derogatory terms for a woman. Earlier, BJP had complained to the Election Commission, seeking action against Madhusudan Mistry for his statements against Sushma Swaraj. In its complaint, the BJP alleged that Mistry's statement is "vulgar and intended to tarnish the image of a woman who herself is an elderly person". The party has accused Mistry of making statements contravening provisions of the Model Code of Conduct, the Representation of People's Act (RPS) and the Indian Penal Code.
