New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): Disappointed over Delhi Congress Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely not fighting the assembly elections in the national capital, one of his supporters, a male, attempted to self-immolate himself in the Gandhi Nagar area. The supporter doused himself with kerosene and threatened to self-immolate himself but was stopped from going ahead with his plan. Lovely's candidature was withdrawn from the upcoming assembly elections yesterday. He said he was honoured by the new role given to him by the party high command. Jan 19, 2015

New Delhi, Jan 18 (ANI): A dense fog engulfed national capital New Delhi on Sunday morning, resulting in the cancellation of 21 flights and delay in the take-off of another 47. General visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport was below 50 metres early this morning. Satellite towns Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad also reported dense foggy conditions. The temperature at 5.30 a.m. was eight degrees Celsius. The Meteorological department has forecast dense fog in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan in the winter season. New Delhi, Jan 16 (ANI): A fictional account of Congress President Sonia Gandhi's life by Spanish author finally hits the country's stores with the party mulling legal action if it found contents "objectionable". The book "Red Sari" by Javier Moro could not be released in India during opposition Congress party rule. The Congress said it would take legal action, if the contents of the book were found objectionable. Bharatiya Janata Party refused to comment on it. CPI leader Atul Anjan found nothing wrong with the publication of the book. The book traces Sonia's journey with information sourced from close friends and colleagues from her idyllic childhood to her passionate love affair with late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and chief of the Congress party. Japanese Foreign Minister arrives in India for bilateral talks

New Delhi, Jan 16 (ANI): Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida arrived in India on Friday on a two-day visit to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations. Kishida is in India to co-chair the 8th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue with his counterpart Sushma Swaraj on Saturday. The two foreign ministers will review all aspects of the bilateral relations between the two countries and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. New Delhi, Jan 16 (ANI): A dense fog enveloped national capital New Delhi and surrounding areas on Friday morning, disrupting flights, train services and road traffic. Visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) had reduced to zero meters reportedly, which delayed the arrival and departure of many international and domestic flights. Northern Railway authorities said over 50 Delhi-bound trains were running late, whereas 17 trains had been rescheduled. Five trains had been cancelled, it added. Director of Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park in Patna, Yash Chandrashekharan, said on Thursday (January 15) the zoo authorities are making extra efforts to take care of the animals. Zoo animals are the worse affected by a change in temperature as they have been displaced from their natural habitat and kept in places where the temperatures are not favourable to their bodies.
