Kashmir Valley remains cut off due to heavy snowfall

Poonch, Feb 04 (ANI): Heavy snowfall continued for the fourth consecutive day in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday (February 04), throwing normal life out of gear. The Srinagar-Jammu highway remained shut as a result hundreds of trucks carrying essential commodities could not reach the godowns and markets. Srinagar-Jammu highway is an arterial road that connects Kashmir to the rest of the country making it a route of extreme importance- both for the state's economy and defence personnel. Another important link, Mughal Road, which connects Poonch and Rajouri districts with Shopian in the valley, was also shut down due to thick snow. People living in remote villages have been cut off from the rest of the state leading to depleting ration supplies and inaccessibility to essential services. Feb 4, 2015

Chennai hosts 3 day India international leather fair

Chennai, Feb 03 (ANI): The India international leather fair is drawing huge crowd of customers, traders and exhibitors to Chennai city. The three-day 30th edition of India International Leather Fair 2015 was opened for business visitors from Sunday. The exhibition showcases entire range of products - from raw material to finished products and auxiliary products such as finished leather, shoes, shoe components, leather garments, fashion accessories and leather goods. General Manager of India Trade Promotion Organisation, V Kumar said the machinery and equipments displayed by foreign participants were in great demand among Indians. Odisha, Jan 30 (ANI): People are thronging the annual tribal fair in Bhubaneswar city of Odisha to get a glimpse of the tribal culture and a taste of the tribal delicacies. The tribal fair was inaugurated on Monday by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. It has been organised by the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRI) and will go on till February 09. The fair has been divided into various sections like a tribal village, market, food plaza and craft pavilion. Not only the visitors, the tribals participating in the fair are also pleased at this opportunity as they feel it provides them with a bigger market to sell their goods.
