PM woos business leaders, aims to boost foreign investment

New York, Sept 28 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met the business leaders in the US with an aim to woo them to invest in India and attract foreign investment, as he arrived in New York for his address in the UN General Assembly. Singh addressed business leaders and prominent personalities at a meet where he was accompanied by foreign minister Salman Khurshid and planning body deputy chief Montek Singh Ahluwalia. New Delhi, Sept 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Wednesday said India sees the United States as a long-term partner in its development efforts, and also in fostering a global environment conducive to growth. In a departure statement released before embarking on a five-day visit to the United States, Dr. Singh said: "For India, the U.S. remains a key source of technology, investment, innovation and resources, and one of the most important destinations for our goods and services. We have productive and deepening partnerships in trade and investment, defence, counter-terrorism, intelligence, internal security, cyber security, civil nuclear energy, environment, health, higher education, space, science and technology and culture. First UK India Business Centre opens in Gurgaon

Gurgaon, Sep 20 (ANI): The British Trade and Investment Minister Lord Stephen Green, currently on a visit to India with a delegation launched the first bilateral business centre at Gurgaon. This move would enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to prosper with their ventures in India. The UK-India Business Centre, is the maiden centre to open in a major emerging market after Prime Minister David Cameron___s call that Britain would go ahead with a new scheme to support business overseas.
