Sankalp yatra: Security beefed up in Ayodhya, ban on SMS

Lucknow/ Ayodhya, Oct 18 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh government has beefed up security in railway stations and has put a ban on SMS in Ayodhya to clamp down on Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) 'Sankalp Sabha' scheduled for Friday, according to an official. Officials said strict vigil was being kept on movement of people to Ayodhya and all borders to Faizabad were sealed on Thursday. International terrorism expert calls for banning Jamaat-e-Islami

Dhaka, Oct 9 (ANI): International terrorism expert and an academician in Singapore, Rohan Gunaratna, called for the banning of Bangladesh's top Islamic party, Jamaat-e-Islami, for spreading prejudice, suspicion and hatred resulting in widespread anger and acts of violence in the country. Gunaratna said that there should be movement in South Asia against the exploitation of religion. Gunaratna said that extremist and militant groups in Bangladesh have emerged from Jamaat-e-Islami ideology. Seven prisoners escape from Khandwa jail in MP, one nabbed

Khandwa/Bhopal, Oct 1 (ANI): In a major embarrassment to the Madhya Pradesh police, seven prisoners escaped from state's Khandwa jail in the wee hours of Tuesday. According to reports, six of the men allegedly belong to the Students Islamic Movement of India or SIMI, which was banned in 2001 over its alleged terror links. However, one of the prisoners has been caught. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta promised to take an action against the erring officials and said that the authorities would probe as to why this incident happened.
