Five Camden Council Estate Tower Blocks Evacuated Amid Fire Safety Concerns

Residents in five towers on the Chalcots estate are to be moved amid safety concerns after it was found that the blocks used cladding similar to that on the Grenfell Tower. While Camden Council had initially announced the evacuation of one tower block, Taplow, this was later extended to include all five tower blocks after safety checks were carried out by the London Fire Brigade. This video from Galveston Island, Texas, on June 21 shows a colony of fire ants clumping together to create a living raft in the floodwaters brought on by Tropical Storm Cindy as it drew closer to landfall. When faced with an influx of water to their colony, fire ants will gather together to protect the most vulnerable in their ranks and create a living raft until they find dry land. Detective Superintendent Fiona McCormack, who is overseeing the investigation, said the cause of the fire was a faulty Hotpoint fridge-freezer. The Metropolitan Police investigation confirmed that the blaze was not started deliberately.
