Chandigarh/ Bhopal, Nov 29 (ANI): Arif Majeed, who was detained by National Investigation Agency (NIA) at Mumbai airport on suspicion of being an Islamic State (IS) militant, was produced in court on Saturday (November 29). Majeed, who belongs to Maharashtra and was one of the four youths who went to Iraq, was detained on Friday (November 28). Reacting to his arrest, Lieutenant General (retired) Srinivas Kumar Sinha said there is a need on the part of intelligence agencies to be more careful. Security beefed up in Assam ahead of PM's visit for DGPs conference

Guwahati, Nov 28 (ANI): Security stepped up ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with the police chiefs in Assam. Modi and Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh will address the two-day meet, which begins on Saturday, and being held in Assam for the first time. Directors general of police (DGPs) and inspectors general of police (IGPs) from the states and union territories, chief ministers of the northeastern states, officials from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and paramilitary forces will take part in it. Director General of Police Khagen Sarma said all precautionary measures are being taken to prevent any untoward incident. India's northeast consists of eight states which are beset with militancy and insurgency. Army says militants trying to disrupt polls in Kashmir

Jammu, Nov 27 (ANI): Indian army's top official said intelligence inputs suggested that militants along the Line of Control (LoC) and hinterland were trying to disrupt the ongoing election process in Kashmir. General Officer Commanding 16 Corps Lieutenant General KH Singh said that the activities are being carried on with the sole intention of disturbing the ongoing polls in the state. Singh also said that the army is fully equipped and prepared to deal with any such activities along the international border. The assembly segments going to polls include Kishtwar, Inderwal, Doda, Bhaderwah, Ramban and Banihal in Jammu division; Gurez, Bandipora, Sonawari, Kangan and Ganderbal in Kashmir region and Nobra, Leh, Kargil and Zanskar in Ladakh region. Maulana Kalbe Jawwad slams Modi government after being detained at Delhi airport

New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): Noted Indian Shi'ite cleric, Maulana Kalbe Jawwad slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi government for stopping a six-member humanitarian delegation, which was headed to war-torn Iraq ravaged by the Islamic state (IS) militants, for rehabilitation and relief work. Jawwad, who was heading the delegation, is the general secretary of one India's leading Islamic Organisation, Jamiat-Ulema-I-Hind. He and the preparatory delegation were detained at international airport in New Delhi on Sunday after a Look out circular (LOC) letter by Intelligence Bureau officials was shown to them. Hitting at the BJP government, he said LOC is shown to the untraceable criminals, not to those with no criminal backgrounds, heading for a noble cause.
