RSS observes Dussehra festivities with worship of weapons, cadres' parade in Haryana

Gurgaon, Sep 28 (ANI): Cadres of the RSS, observed Dussehra festivities in Gurgaon city in Haryana, by performing the ancient Indian ritual of worshipping weapons (Shastra Puja) and holding a cadets' parade to show its preparedness to gain victory over evil, which is the symbol of the festival. On Sunday, RSS cadres attired in their khaki short pants, white shirts and black caps, performed drills holding sticks and also took part in a parade to mark the day. A cadet, Prabhat Sharma, said that more than 200 activists were present on this occasion of weapon worship in Gurgaon. The Hindu festival of 'Dussera' marks the conquest of Hindu divinity Lord Rama, over the demon king Ravana, who is believed to have ruled the island of Lanka. Sep 28, 2014

New Delhi/J&K,Sept 26 (ANI): Devotees across India thronged the temples on the first day of Navratri when Hindus worship mother goddess Durga in all her manifestations. Navratri, derived from the ancient Sanskrit words 'nine nights', falls this year from September 25 to October 03. People stood in queues early morning on Thursday as they visited temples to seek the blessings of mother goddess Durga. Devotees celebrate the festival with religious fervour as they pray before the idol of the goddess, sing religious songs and perform aarti while observing fast. During one of the biggest Hindu festival celebrated across India in different forms and names, temples are beautifully decorated with flowers, leaves, petals, lights and the priests ornate idols of goddess Durga with new clothes and jewellery. Meanwhile, a priest at a temple in New Delhi said on the first day of the festival the goddess Durga is worshipped in the form of Shailputri or daughter of king of mountains. It is believed that during Navratri, the goddess Durga descends on earth to rid it of demons and bless her devotees with happiness and prosperity. Rang Rasiya's musical music launch

Mumbai, Sept 26 (ANI): Ketan Mehta's 'Rang Rasiya', starring Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen had a musical music launch in Mumbai recently. The event saw live performances by singers Sonu Nigam, Kailash Kher, Sunidhi Chauhan, Roop Kumar Rathod, Rajeshwari Pathak and Anwarbhai, the king of Rajasthani folk music. Based on the book Raja Ravi Varma by Marathi author Ranjit Desai, the film chronicles the life of India's famous painter Raja Ravi Varma. The film is being released after six long years because of its controversial subject. The movie also features Nandana Sen, Vipin Sharma and Paresh Rawal.
