India, Mozambique enter new oil venture

New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): India and Mozambique signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of oil and gas for five years in New Delhi on Friday. Minister of foreign affairs and cooperation of the Southeast African country, Oldemiro Julio Marques Baloi, and India’s petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan entered into this venture with an aim to enhance bilateral cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual benefit of both the countries. The two sides discussed various areas of mutual cooperation in the energy sector. The minister stated that both countries should work together in gas and oil sector so that the commercial interest of both the countries can be protected. Kathmandu, Nov 27 (ANI): MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that India would enhance its bond with South Asian nations and move together with its neighbours in a bid to boost trade while integrating energy grids and easy access via road and railway links. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized that India will move with those who are ready. Militancy a regional and international challenge: Sri Lankan President

Kathmandu, Nov 26 (ANI): Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa said on Wednesday that he is looking forward to a continued engagement of the SAARC nations as militancy still poses a threat, both regional and internationally. Rajapaksa was delivering a speech at the two-day South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit in Nepal's capital Kathmandu. He added the south Asian region should work collectively to ensure sanitation, clean water, and human development. The Sri Lankan President also said this year's SAARC summit should discuss global climate change and how to generate alternative methods of energy production. Rajapaksa also called for close coordination of the SAARC countries in electricity sector and empowering youth. He added that south Asian countries are known for its intellectual and cultural heritage. Rajapaksa said he feels inspired to come to Nepal where the birthplace of Lord Buddha is situated. Foreign ministers attend SAARC meet in Nepal

Kathmandu, Nov 25 (ANI): Foreign ministers of eight South Asian nations attended the 36th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Council of Ministers meet in Nepal on Tuesday. India's Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj was in attendance with Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh. Foreign Secretaries of India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Maldives are setting the agenda for the summit due to be held on November 26 and 27. Swaraj on Monday (November 24) hoped the Summit would bear fruitful results and boost regional cooperation cementing ties and added it was the most important for the south Asian nations as it strengthens friendship and bolsters bilateral relations.
