India celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr

Lucknow/ Srinagar/ Jammu/ New Delhi/ Saharanpur, July 29 (ANI): Muslims across India offered Eid prayers on Tuesday after clerics sight the moon at the end of holy month of Ramadan the previous night. Muslim Cleric Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali had confirmed that Muslims would pray for peace and harmony in the country as well as in Palestine on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In Srinagar, Muslims offered morning prayers at a mosque and celebrated the festival, praying for peace and brotherhood. In Jammu too, people in large numbers arrived at a mosque as the Ramadan month culminates in Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations. Meanwhile, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also offered prayers at Delhi's Jama Masjid and wished everyone Happy Eid. Jul 29, 2014

Kashmir decks up for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations

Srinagar, July 28 (ANI): As the countdown to Eid-ul-Fitr begins, the activities that have contributed to the merry hustle and bustle associated with it gains momentum across Kashmir. Shoppers galore flock at decked up markets to usher in the much-awaited festival. Shoppers in the summer capital of Srinagar thronged decorated markets to do their last minute Eid shopping. Beelines outside confectionary and bakery shops to buy their favourite items were seen across the city. Eid ul-Fitr is also know as "the feast of breaking the fast" and occurs with the sighting of the new moon. Rushing through his Eid shopping in a market in Srinagar, a customer, Peroz Ahmad, said Eid is a big day for everyone and brings joy to every household. Bangladeshi women paint hands with traditional henna designs ahead of Eid

Dhaka, July 27 (ANI): Enthusiastic Bangladeshi Muslim women participated in Henna festival and artistically applied it on their hands in various traditional floral patterns as Eid-ul-Fitr is approaching. Eid-ul-Fitr will likely be celebrated on 29th or 30th of July after sighting of the crescent moon. Eid celebration is incomplete without henna application (patterns made with henna are painted on hands and legs), especially for Muslim women and children.
