New Delhi/Mumbai/ Kolkata, Dec 18 (ANI): Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar condemned the Taliban bloodshed on schoolchildren, which killed at least 132 students and nine staff members in Pakistan. Tendulkar said that his heart melted by the horrifying news like any other human being. Meanwhile, French envoy to India, Francois Richier, vowed to fight against militant outfits using all kinds of weaponry. German envoy to India, Michael Steiner, echoed a similar sentiment while appreciating world wide condemnation of the gruesome bloodshed. Manohar Parrikar & service chiefs pay tribute to martyrs on 'Vijay Diwas'

New Delhi, Dec 16 (ANI): As the nation remembers the martyrs today on Vijay Diwas, who laid down their lives during 1971 India-Pakistan war, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar along with of Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, Navy Chief RK Dhowan and Air Chief Arup Raha paid tributes at Amar Jawan Jyoti. On this day, the chief of the Pakistani forces, General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, along with 93,000 troops, had surrendered unconditionally to the allied forces consisting of Indian Army and Mukti Bahini, led by General Jagjit Singh Aurora in Dhaka after their defeat in the war. Congress targets West Bengal CM over Saradha scam

Kolkata, Dec 16 (ANI): Congress party staged a protest against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after one of her ministers was arrested for his role in Saradha scam. Transport minister of West Bengal, Madan Mitra was arrested by CBI on December 12. Protesting Congress workers demanded immediate summon of Banerjee by CBI. Meanwhile, TMC leaders took out a mass rally against the arrest of their minister as they shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government. TMC leader Javed Khan blamed Modi-led BJP of using federal probe agency to their advantage. On November 21, CBI had arrested TMC lawmaker Srinjoy Bose in connection with the scam. Dec 16, 2014

Sports community in Kolkata protests over Madan Mitra's arrest

Kolkata, Dec 15 (ANI): Sportspersons and enthusiasts held demonstrations against arrest of West Bengal Sports Minister Madan Mitra, in connection with multi-billion investment scam in Kolkata city. Hundreds of sporting personalities joined the protest where supporters of Mitra shouted slogans against CBI and BJP. The protesters burnt effigy of Modi and blocked traffic in different areas of Kolkata city. Former Indian footballer, Gautam Sarkar, said Mitra was an unparallel personality and his arrest was causing a great harm to sports and cultural sectors of the state. The Bengal sportspersons and enthusiasts have decided to continue their sit-in at a dais near the statue of former footballer Gostha Behari Paul until Mitra is released. Dec 15, 2014
