Indian and Pakistani Delegation hold sixth round of parliamentary dialogue

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): The sixth round of India-Pakistan Parliamentary Dialogue took place in New Delhi even as an impasse remains between prime ministers of both the nations. The Pakistani parliamentarians led by Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, MNA and Chairman Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, hoped for positive dialogue between two neighbouring nations. Delegation member said that the dialogue and a chord between the two nations should remain intact by whichever means. One of them said that the initiative should be taken from both sides and no country should think that they are doing favour by the same. A 12-member delegation of Pakistan MPs joins their Indian counterparts in Parliament today. Dec 12, 2014

Lawyers continue strike in Delhi courts over delay in tabling of amendment bill

New Delhi, Dec 11 (ANI): Lawyers in Delhi courts said that they will continue their strike for the third day on Thursday protesting the delay in tabling an amendment bill of enhancing pecuniary jurisdiction of district courts. Chairman of co-ordination committee of bar associations RK Wadhwa said that all the district courts in Delhi, in its emergent meeting last week, decided to abstain from work with effect from December 09, till the bill is tabled in Parliament. The committee said that despite assurances, the proposed bill recommending enhancement of pecuniary jurisdiction to Rs 2 crore for the courts, has found no mention in the agenda of ongoing Winter Session of Parliament. Parliament logjam ends after Government agrees to Opposition resolution

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): After a week of Parliament logjam, Rajya Sabha ended the impasse over Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's controversial remarks on Monday after Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari intervened. Rajya Sabha resumed normal functioning during Question Hour after the Government and the opposition leaders agreed to a compromise formula to end the protests. Following the compromise, Ansari made a fresh appeal to "all members of Parliament, ministers and leaders of all political parties to maintain civility at all costs in public discourse". Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu confirming the development said that the impasse over the minister's remark has ended after RS chairperson's intervention and appealed the opposition leaders to co-operate with the government.
