PM urges security agencies to step up vigilance ahead of 2014 Polls

New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, urged security forces in the country to remain alert as there was a likelihood of attempts to disrupt the upcoming 2014 national elections. Addressing an annual conference of Director Generals of Police (DGPs) on Saturday, Singh said that security forces have to be careful in their response to militant attacks. Meanwhile, commenting on the peace situation in Kashmir that have recently witnessed an increase in infiltration attempts, Singh called for coordinated efforts to counter such efforts. Referring to the brutal rape and murder of a young girl in New Delhi that sent shockwaves across the nation, Singh stressed on the need to sensitively deal with the issue of women rights. Salman wants fresh trial in hit and run case!

New Delhi, Nov 20 (ANI): Dabangg Bollywood actor Salman Khan has pleaded for a fresh trial before a sessions court in the hit-and-run case, saying the evidence adduced earlier before a magistrate be discarded as he was now facing a more serious charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. A session's court had on July 24 framed charges against Salman Khan for culpable homicide for which he may face a jail term upto 10 years. Ahmedabad, Nov 6 (ANI): RTI activist Amit Jethwa's wife Alpa Jethwa on Wednesday said she is happy that her husband's murderer has been arrested by CBI and she hopes he gets death penalty. The CBI has arrested BJP MP from Junagarh, Dinu Bogha Solanki in connection with the murder of Amit Jethwa. Earlier, Solanki was questioned by a special team of the CBI in New Delhi and later he was booked by the agency. He was earlier given a clean chit by the Gujarat Police.
