Badaun, May 31 (ANI): Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday visited Badaun in Uttar Pradesh where the two sisters were gang-raped and murdered. Gandhi met the family members of the victims and said that he agreed with the family who pressed for a CBI probe and refused to take any compensation as it would not restore their girls' honour. He added that justice should be done to the innocent girls and their family so that a message is spread among the culprits who execute similar crimes that such offenses will not be spared in country. All five main accused arrested in Badaun gang-rape case

Uttar Pradesh/New Delhi, May 31 (ANI): Police on Saturday arrested the fifth accused in the gang-rape and murder of two teen sisters in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district that had sparked enormous outrage among people. The girls, aged 14 and 15, were cousins and they went missing from their village on May 27 evening. The following morning, villagers found the bodies of the two teenagers hanging from a mango tree in a nearby orchard. The post-mortem report confirmed that both girls were raped and died due to hanging. An FIR was registered against seven persons including two policemen and two unnamed men after outrage over the incident. May 31, 2014

Badaun, May 30 (ANI): Police on Friday arrested two of the suspects who allegedly gang-raped two teenage girls and hanged them from a tree in Uttar Pradesh. The two cousins, aged 14 and 15, who were from a low-caste Dalit community, went missing from their village home in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district when they went out to go to the toilet on Tuesday evening. The following morning, villagers found the bodies of the two teenagers hanging from a mango tree in a nearby orchard. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Badaun, Atul Saxena, said two of the suspects have been arrested and the hunt for the third one is still on. Health Minister's clarion call for students to campaign against tobacco consumption

New Delhi, May 30 (ANI): Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan, flagged off a rally of school students in New Delhi on Friday, a day ahead of 'World No Tobacco Day' to draw attention towards the health risks associated with tobacco consumption. The rally was part of the activities taken up by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along with the WHO, to mark the 'World No Tobacco Day' in order to promote the theme 'Raise taxes on tobacco to reduce tobacco consumption' for this year. Globally, every year, 31st May is observed as World No Tobacco Day. Interacting with participants of the rally, he said that the health ministry is working towards advocating policies that could help reduce tobacco- related health risks and ensuring at the same time that the laws implemented by the state governments are made people friendly.
