Kolkata, May 31 (ANI): TMC leaders have said that West Bengal chief Mamta Banerjee, who is also the party supremo, has the potential of leading the country, common people as well as the downtrodden. After its sweeping win in West Bengal in the general elections, the Trinamool Congress held a general body meeting in Kolkata on Friday. TMC, which has 34 lawmakers in the Lok Sabha, said they will keep a close watch on the Modi government and see that it works for the common people and not just the corporates. TMC leader Firhad Hakim said Banerjee is an efficient leader who has the capabilities to run the country. First session of 16th Lok Sabha from June 4

New Delhi, May 29 (ANI): The Union Cabinet has recommended convening of the first session of the 16th Lok Sabha from June 4 to June 11. Briefing the reporters, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu confirmed that the first session of 16th Lok Sabha will be held from June 4 to June 11. Naidu said that former parliamentary affairs minister and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath will be the Protem Speaker, who will perform the duties of the office of the Speaker till the election of Speaker. "During the inaugural session of the 16th Lok Sabha, newly-elected members to Lower House will take oath on June 4 and 5," Naidu said. The first session will also witness election of the new Speaker and the joint address by the President to the two Houses. The Rajya Sabha session will begin on June 9 with a joint address by the President Pranab Mukherjee, Naidu said. May 29, 2014
