Battle for Mosul: Intense fighting sees families fleeing

Dozens of Iraqis fled the eastern districts of Mosul as Iraqi armed forces intensified their fight against Islamic State on 16 November. Iraqi Counter Terrorism Services have faced fierce resistance from the militants over several days, with waves of suicide bombers, sniper attacks and ambushes. A suicide bomber on a motorbike killed at least four people by detonating a device in Kabul, Afghanistan, on 16 November. Several others were also injured in the attack that targeted a vehicle carrying national security officials. An interior ministry official confirmed the incident but could not immediately say how many people had been killed or wounded. There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
