French police have started to evict migrants form the makeshift camp know as the Calais Jungle. Up to 10,000 migrants have settled at the camp with the hopes of entering the UK, as many of the people there have travelled from crisis-ravaged countries like Syria, Afghanistan and Eritrea. Calais Jungle: First migrants evacuated in week-long operation to clear camp

France is beginning operations to evacuate and dismantle the Calais Jungle refugee camp. 60 buses are to take the 6,500 residents to refugee centres across France where they will be able to apply for asylum in the country. However, aid workers claim there are over 8,000 people in the camp, many of whom are unaccompanied children. Over the past weeks Britain has taken in 1,300 unaccompanied children. Clashes broke out on 23 October as migrants and militants set fire to portable toilets and threw stones at police, who responded with tear gas. Oct 24, 2016
